Question
Where did the wrangler r2 sql and wrangler pipelines commands go?
Answer key
- A correct answer says
- R2 SQL, R2 Data Catalog and Pipelines commands now live under `wrangler basin sql`, `wrangler basin catalog` and `wrangler basin pipelines` and are stable; the old paths (`wrangler r2 sql`, `wrangler r2 bucket catalog`, `wrangler pipelines`) remain only as hidden aliases. Basin SQL reads its token from `WRANGLER_BASIN_SQL_AUTH_TOKEN` (falling back to `CLOUDFLARE_API_TOKEN`); `WRANGLER_R2_SQL_AUTH_TOKEN` is no longer read.
- The stale answer
- Use `wrangler r2 sql`, `wrangler r2 bucket catalog` and `wrangler pipelines` (beta) for these features.
Answer
As far as I can tell, they haven't gone anywhere. Cloudflare's current docs still list `wrangler r2 sql query <warehouse> "<SQL>"`, which needs the `WRANGLER_R2_SQL_AUTH_TOKEN` env var. They also still list the `wrangler pipelines` commands (`setup`, `create`, `list`, and so on). I found no changelog entry removing or moving either one. Two changes might explain what you're seeing. Some `wrangler pipelines create/update` flags were renamed (for example, `--access-key-id` became `--r2-access-key-id`). Pipelines created before September 25, 2025 are now "legacy" and on a deprecation path. If the commands are missing for you, your Wrangler is probably too old. Run `npx wrangler@latest --version` to check, or upgrade.

wrong
The judge's reason: It claims the commands still live at `wrangler r2 sql` and `wrangler pipelines` with `WRANGLER_R2_SQL_AUTH_TOKEN`, which is the stale answer; it never mentions the move to `wrangler basin`.

The results do show renamed flags and a deprecation path, plus the current R2 SQL command reference. - **Flag renames in pipelines:** A Wrangler changelog entry lists renamed `wrangler pipelines create/update` flags, such as access-key-id becoming r2-access-key-id and transform becoming transform-worker. Rename wrangler pipelines <create|update> flags is the heading, and the entry is tied to PR #8012. - **Legacy pipelines:** Pipelines created before September 25, 2025 through the legacy API are on a deprecation path. You can identify them in the dashboard or with the pipelines list command. - **Current R2 SQL command:** The reference lists only one command, `wrangler r2 sql query`, which takes a warehouse name and a SQL query. R2 SQL is currently in open beta. R2 SQL expects there to be a WRANGLER_R2_SQL_AUTH_TOKEN environment variable to be set. A newer preview version of the same page lists the same command, so nothing there suggests removal. - **Pipelines setup:** The `wrangler pipelines setup` command now has a Simple mode that applies recommended defaults and automatically creates the R2 bucket and enables R2 Data Catalog if they do not already exist. Gaps: the search didn't surface a changelog entry for removing or moving any `r2 sql` subcommand. For a definitive answer, check the workers-sdk wrangler CHANGELOG directly, since the results were mostly docs pages and PR fragments.
