Question
Wrangler warned that my bundle is close to the size limit. Is that limit measured compressed or uncompressed, and how big is it?
Answer key
- A correct answer says
- Workers have a single 64 MiB uncompressed script size limit, and Wrangler's size warnings compare the uncompressed bundle against it.
- The stale answer
- Worker scripts are limited to 3 MiB (free) or 10 MiB (paid) after gzip compression.
Answer
The limit applies to the **compressed (gzip) size** of your Worker, not the raw size. Wrangler prints both after a build or `--dry-run` (`Total Upload: … KiB / gzip: … KiB`), and the gzip number is the one checked against the limit. That limit is **3 MB on the Workers Free plan and 10 MB on the Paid plan**. Separately, the uncompressed bundle can't be larger than 64 MB.
This comes from what I know about Cloudflare's published limits, not from a docs check today, and the project's Ludion lessons don't mention it. If you're close to the line, confirm the current numbers on the Workers "Limits" page. To see where the size comes from, `wrangler deploy --dry-run --outdir dist --metafile` shows which dependencies take up the most space.Grade
wrong
The judge's reason: It says the limit is checked on gzip size at 3 MB free / 10 MB paid, which is the outdated answer; the current limit is a single 64 MiB uncompressed limit.
